Katie Watts joined Thames Valley Police in September 2018, after graduating with a first class honours degree in International Politics from Brunel University London. She began her career in the Office Based Research Team in Contact Management, before becoming TVP’s second Cyber Protect Officer within the Cyber Crime Unit in July 2019.

 

As part of the Cyber Protect Network, Katie provides bespoke protect advice to victims of cyber dependent crimes, alongside engaging with individuals, organisations and communities. In her role, Katie covers Protect, Prevent and Prepare elements of the 4P’s strategy and assists with the Pursue strand wherever possible. Katie has also helped train Neighbourhood Officers and Police Cadets to deliver relevant protect advice when performing their duties.

Katie has completed Cyber Security training with QA and is trained to CompTIA Security+ standard, which has helped developed her technical knowledge, allowing her to provide more in depth advice to individuals and businesses.

MARK GODSLAND

Mark, has had a career with UK Policing since 1988, working with Gloucestershire Constabulary until 2016 as a serving officer in a variety of operational and non-operational roles, involvement with and in support of national crime prevention initiatives, ambassadorial duties in representing the Constabulary with engagement and support of the wider business community.

 

He joined Thames Valley Police in early 2018 as a Cyber Protect Officer in a staff capacity and continues to work to develop and deliver with colleagues a Force-wide Cyber Protect strategy, focusing on proactive and dynamic cyber-crime prevention and reduction initiatives, whilst supporting the South East Regional Crime Units, Cyber Protect portfolio.

Marks core roles include the support and guidance to the Local Policing Areas, to ensure that Neighbourhood policing staff have the basic skills to deliver local Cyber enabled prevention & reduction advice, support victims and reduce demand. In addition deliver bespoke cyber awareness presentations to a wide base of community groups, including the wider business sector and deliver a Board level practical exercise. He liaises and consults internally and externally by bench marking against performance against other Forces, linking with subject matter experts, to achieve and share a better understanding of practical and proactive Cyber Protect issues and partnership opportunities.

Mark is part of the wider UK Cyber Protect network, fully supporting National Cyber Protect messages and content to ensure corporate approach, consistency and delivery of core National guidance provided by the National Cyber Security Centre.

JAMES ADNITT

James joined the Hampshire Police in September 2019 having previously worked within IT department for Her Majesty’s Court Service. James has a strong background in IT training.

 

James’ role covers the Protect strand of the 4P strategy for Hampshire Constabulary. James delivers tailored protect advice to local businesses and organisations, including completing cyber security reviews for businesses and hosting business events for local SMEs.

 

As well as his 15 years experience working in the criminal justice system, IT and professional training, James is currently working towards his CompTIA+ and Cyber Pursue qualifications.

CATHERINE BRABANDER

CYBER PROTECT TEAM FOR SUSSEX & SURREY POLICE

Catherine joined Surrey and Sussex police in July 2021, after 2 years working within Data Protection and Information Governance within the NHS.

 

Catherine's passion for cybercrime stemmed from undertaking Masters in Cybercrime and Intelligence at the University of Portsmouth, as well as volunteering for the Cybercrime Awareness Clinic at the University.

 

Within her role at Surrey and Sussex, Catherine provides bespoke protection advice under the 4P strategy to victims of cyber dependent crimes, and will be engaging with the wider community and small/medium organisations to provide proactive cyber protection advice.
